Young Workers School at Camp Jubilee.

Join young workers from around the province for a weekend of learning, connecting and fun.

Each year the BCFED hosts a Young Workers School at Camp Jubilee for workers aged 30 or under. The School is set in a retreat-like environment. Participants will attend courses to help them build skills related to the labour movement and political action. There will be outdoor activities and a chance to meet other young workers from around the province.

This year's school will be held on June 17-19, 2016.

Participants will depart from Deep Cove on Friday afternoon and return on Sunday afternoon. Please arrive at Deep Cove by noon on Friday, June 17.

Please note that parking is very limited so carpooling is suggested.

Registration

The cost of the Conference is $350 and will cover accommodation, meals and conference fee.

Registration deadline: June 10, 2016

Participants are required to sign and return the waiver in the materials section by June 10, 2016.

All cancellations must be received in writing and accompanied by proof of payment.

Cancellations received before May 31 will receive a full refund minus a $50 handling charge.

There will be no refunds for cancellations received after May 31.

Getting here

We will travel to Camp Jubilee from Deep Cove by boat. Please meet at the Government Dock at 12 noon on June 17th. Please do not bring heavy gear not suitable for transport by boat. There is limited parking so be prepared to walk a few blocks or find a carpool.

Activities

Participants will participate in two outdoor activities.

Selections include kayaking, long boat canoeing, a nature hike, archery and volleyball. Each session is about 1 hour with 30 minutes of set up, instruction and transit time.

Meals

All meals will be provided with your registration. This includes breakfast, lunch, dinner and an evening snack. Camp Jubilee has a nut free policy, so do not bring anything that may contain nuts.

Conduct

This is a BC Federation of Labour event and participants at the school represent both their union and the BCFED. Respectful conduct and adherence to the BCFED Anti-Harassment Policy is expected at all times during the event.

Participants will be asked to sign a Code of Conduct Agreement confirming their understanding of these expectations prior to arriving at the Camp.
