COVID-19 protocols

COVID-19 and influenza remain a critical risk to members of our community. We are asking delegates to take the important steps required to keep everyone safe for our conference.

Remember, our labour community includes people who may be immunocompromised, have underlying health issues, or work in a sector that requires them to care for others.

We must each do our part to keep everyone safe. We ask that all participants follow these guidelines while at Organizing Institute events.

**Note: The BC Federation of Labour follows the guidance of the BC’s Provincial Health Officer regarding COVID-19 safety protocols. The BCFED reserves the right to change our COVID-19 protocols, outlined below, at any time.

Masks

We encourage participants to wear a mask at all times during the event. We know that masks are the most effective way to keep yourself and others safe. This simple act of masking up will ensure that others around you can fully participate.

Daily health check

Each participant should do a daily self-health check – and if you have any symptoms associated with COVID-19 do not attend Organizing Institute events (unless the symptoms are related to a known health condition (e.g. allergies) or within 48 hours after a COVID-19 or flu vaccine). We will provide a link for you to join the class digitally if you're sick. Please don't return until your symptoms have cleared.

To review the daily health check visit: covidcheck.gov.bc.ca

Social distancing

Be mindful of other people and maintaining social distance when possible.

Green/Yellow/Red stickers: Participants will be encouraged to place a sticker on your nametag to let people know your comfort level when greeting:

Green = happy to shake hands
Yellow = we can elbow bump
Red = let’s just wave and say hello

Hand washing / sanitizer

There will be hand sanitizer stations readily available at all Organizing Institute events. We strongly encourage all participants to wash their hands frequently and use the provided hand sanitizer before and after touching common areas (re: water stations).
