Important information

Loon Lake Lodge & Retreat Centre

Located in Maple Ridge, approximately one hour east of Downtown Vancouver, Loon Lake Lodge & Retreat Centre is a year-round meeting, conference, and retreat destination tucked quietly in the heart of University of British Columbia’s Malcolm Knapp Research Forest, on the traditional, unceded territory of the q̓íc̓əy̓ people.

Accessibility

The centre has wheelchair access around the site and buildings. However, some of the path is gravel and not smooth concrete — for example, to the main building during meal time.

We are gathering on q̓ic̓əy̓ territory.

q̓ic̓əy̓ means "land of the moss". The resilience of q̓ic̓əy̓ ancestors has gifted the present day community with teachings that are alive and well. The q̓ic̓əy̓ know that their teachings are "written on the land," meaning that wherever they travel within their territory they can be reminded of who they are and what they are. The q̓ic̓əy̓ practice reciprocal relationship with the land that begins with stewardship and protection of the land, and the land reciprocates this stewardship and care by providing food and medicine to its people. Code of conduct

All participants agree to adhere to the code of conduct. It's an important foundation to ensuring everyone feels safe and welcome at the retreat. Please read the code thoroughly before deciding to come.

Transportation

All transportation to and from Loon Lake is via our chartered buses. Personal vehicles will not have access to the retreat. We have arranged two pickup-and-dropoff locations for retreat participants:

What to bring

Participants will be housed in a large cabin with two sides housing 32 people each. There are nine-bunk-bed rooms within the same building so folks can opt to be in self-identified women's, men's, queer, Trans, non-binary and racialized or other affinity spaces. Participants are required to bring their own bedding, pillows, towels and toiletries. Remember, do not bring alcohol, illegal drugs or controlled substances for recreational use.
